Scoring the SAT

The College Board, on behalf of the Educational Testing Service (ETS), administers the SAT. To determine your score, the College Board uses a complex algorithm that changes from test to test.

We took a look at their grading system and have summarized the key points.

Here's what you need to know:

There are a total of 170 questions and an essay on every test
You can get a maximum score of 800 for each topic, for a total score of 2400
The essay is worth roughly 150 points
Each question, whether easy or difficult, is worth a little more than 13 points
